Principal's Message

On behalf of the students and staff, welcome to Pendleton Elementary School Primary.  As principal, I am proud of our school ... students, faculty, staff members and parents!

It is my sincere hope that your child's experience at Pendleton Elementary School is one filled with happiness and success as we continue to strive for academic excellence. I urge parents to support the school, teachers, and programs. I believe that effective communication between school and home is extremely important to your child's success in school. Shared cooperation and expectations between school and home will ensure that each student reaches his or her full potential. I welcome you to visit the school and take an active role in the education of your child. Parents' positive attitudes and support truly make a significant difference.

All of this will help us work toward successfully fulfilling the vision of the South Madison Community Schools.

Welcome to Pendleton Elementary School – Intermediate!  We are excited to have you visit our Arabian family.  Like an Arabian horse, Pendleton Arabians are known for their stamina, strength, and hard work.  With much pride we welcome you.

PES-Intermediate is a building of just fifth and sixth grade students with an enrollment of 325.  Our neighbor to the south is Pendleton Elementary School – Primary, which houses grades PK – 4.  Together we make up the PES campus.

Pendleton Elementary has been rated as an ‘A’ school by the Indiana Department of Education.  We continue to see steady gains in our standardized testing scores and local assessments.

We offer several opportunities for students to be involved at PES - I.  Our clubs include Junior Beta, Student Council, Art, Choir, Drama, and Junior Garden.  Academic competitions that we compete in include Spell Bowl, M.A.T.H. Bowl, Spelling Bee, and the National Geographic Bee.  The sixth grade students are able to join the middle school programs.  They include cross country, swimming, golf, track, wrestling, and band.  We also offer sixth grade boys’ and girls’ basketball.

The staff at PES - Intermediate is dedicated to providing a curriculum that challenges students to ensure academic growth.  Our highly qualified staff offers hands-on opportunities, real-life experiences, and standards-based lessons.  We believe in meeting a child where they are, and through our academic support, watching them grow.

Our students and faculty strive to follow our Horseshoe Honor Code Daily through our actions and words.  Daily we recite our Code to remind us of the expectations.
We are Respectful,
We are Responsible,
We are Honest,
We are Safe,
We are…..Arabians.
Best Wishes,
Ms. Arlene Dawson, PESI Principal
